Position Overview

Wajax Industries is currently recruiting for a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician(s). The position will primarily be responsible for performing maintenance, repair and rebuilding mining equipment in a safe, efficient and capable manner.

Duties

The Heavy Duty Equipment Technician must be able to diagnose faults or malfunctions and adjust, repair, or replace all defective mining equipment parts, components or systems serviced within the Sparwood Branch. This requires strong proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals relating to manufacturer specifications and warranty environments. In order to ensure that the work done satisfies the manufacturer’s specifications, the Heavy Duty Equipment Technician must also test the repaired equipment for proper performance. This position must be able to work with minimal supervision but also participate in the work of other technicians and apprentices within the field environment.

Qualifications

Journeyman Heavy Equipment Certification, valid in B.C. or Interprovincial Journeyman Certificate is required. Must have a demonstrated ability to efficiently troubleshoot and repair issues in electronic, mechanical, electro/hydraulic systems common to mining equipment. Experience with manufacturer specific equipment diagnostic systems i.e. Laptop or onboard is essential. Experience with Diesel-Electric Trucks, Hydraulic Shovels and Diesel-Electric Wheeled Loaders (LeTourneau knowledge would be an asset but not a requirement). The successful candidates must have a strong electrical background. This position works closely with the existing service and parts representatives in a fast-paced environment. Pre-employment conditions include completion of a drug and alcohol test and current drivers abstract. The successful applicant must provide their own tools.
