Wajax Industries is currently recruiting for field Heavy Equipment Technicians working at various customer locations in the Prince George region. These positions will primarily be responsible for performing maintenance, repair and rebuilding of construction, forestry and mining equipment in a safe, efficient and capable manner.

The Heavy Equipment Technicians must be able to diagnose faults or malfunctions and adjust, repair, or replace all defective construction, forestry and mining equipment parts, components or systems serviced at various customer locations. This requires strong proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals relating to manufacturer specifications and warranty environments. In order to ensure that the work done satisfies the manufacturer’s specifications, the Heavy Equipment Technicians must also test the repaired equipment for proper performance. These positions must be able to work with minimal supervision but also participate in the work of other technicians and apprentices within the field environment.

Journeyman Heavy Equipment Certification, valid in B.C. or Interprovincial Journeyman Certificate is required. Must have a demonstrated ability to efficiently troubleshoot and repair issues in electronic, mechanical, electro/hydraulic systems common to construction, forestry and mining equipment. Experience with manufacturer specific equipment diagnostic systems i.e. Laptop or onboard is essential. Experience with Diesel-Electric Trucks, Hydraulic Shovels and Diesel-Electric Wheeled Loaders (LeTourneau knowledge would be an asset but not a requirement). The successful candidates must have a strong electrical background. This position works closely with the existing service and parts representatives in a fast-paced environment. Pre-employment conditions include completion of a drug and alcohol test, security clearance and a current driver abstract. The successful applicant must provide their own tools. There will be a requirement to work out of town.
